How to Use the Time Card Calculator
- Enter your clock-in and clock-out time for each day you worked.
- Add any unpaid break in minutes — it is subtracted from that day's hours.
- Add a second work period if you worked a split shift.
- Enter your hourly rate if you want an estimated pay figure.
- Review the weekly totals, then copy or print the summary.
How Work Hours Are Calculated
For every work period the calculator measures the elapsed time between clock in and clock out in whole minutes, adds both periods together when a split shift is used, then subtracts the day's unpaid break. Daily totals are combined into a weekly total, and minutes are converted to decimal hours only for display.
Overnight shifts are handled automatically: when the clock-out time is earlier than the clock-in time, such as 22:00 to 06:00, the end time is treated as the following day.
Decimal Hours Example
Decimal hours are total minutes divided by 60:
- 7 hours 30 minutes = 7.50 decimal hours
- 7 hours 45 minutes = 7.75 decimal hours
- 7 hours 20 minutes = 7.33 decimal hours
Displayed decimals are rounded to two places, but exact minutes are always used for the weekly totals and pay estimate.
Overtime
You can set the weekly overtime threshold and the overtime multiplier in the settings above the calculator. Hours up to the threshold count as regular hours, and anything beyond it counts as overtime, paid at your rate multiplied by the multiplier.
